Deliciously Easy Taco Meatza

This Deliciously Easy Taco Meatza offers a delightful twist on traditional pizza by using ground beef to form a meaty crust, then sprinkling it with taco seasonings and toppings for that authentic south-of-the-border taste. Simple to prepare and ready in under 30 minutes, this dish is a must-try and is also keto-friendly.
Taco Meatza, you ask? It’s a pizza with a crust crafted from baked ground beef, hence the name ‘meatza.’ The ‘taco’ aspect comes from the choice of toppings that adorn the meatza. This meaty base is versatile. Faced with a craving for both pizza and tacos, yet desiring to keep carbs in check, I concocted a fusion that satisfies both: the Deliciously Easy Taco Meatza.
The ingredients:
The Crust – consists of ground beef 85/15 grade. That gives a good meat to fat ratio without it being extremely juicy. A lot of the juices will render out once it is baked so you don’t want to go below an 85/15 beef to fat ratio. The seasonings for the crust will give this meatza more flavoring then just plan hamburger.
The Toppings: I truly looked into my fridge and based on what I had available is what I used. If don’t like onions, or jalapeno don’t use them. If you don’t have salsa or hot sauce, sprinkle some taco seasoning on the meat. You can literally make this the way you want it. In addition, if you don’t want to make a taco flavored meatza , make an Italian flavored meatza, with marinara. It’s an open canvas to do what you like.
This recipe is super easy and quick to put together. It just takes a pound of hamburger and your favorite taco/pizza toppings. A complete ingredient list and instructions are provided below.

- 1/2 tsp Cumin
- 3/4 cup grape tomatoes (sliced)

- 1 1/2 cup Cheese (mozzarella, monterey Jack, or cheddar Use whatever cheese you like
Garnish
- Cilantro
- Sour cream
Instructions
Meatza Crust
- Set the oven to 425℉
- Add meat and the meat seasonings to a bowl and combine.
- Lay a piece parchment on the work surface. Place ground beef on top and press it out. Add another piece of parchment on top of the meat and use a rolling to pin roll it out. Roll the meat to a fairly thin consistency. Remove the top piece of parchment.
- Place the pan in oven for about 10 minutes. This is where the thickness makes a difference. If rolled fairly thin, the meat will be done in about 10 minutes and have a somewhat crispy consistency.
- Remove from the oven and place on a clean sheet pan. Because there are a lot of juices rendered during the baking step you need to move to a dry sheet pan. Using two spatulas, pick up the crust and move it to the sheet pan. Now you're ready to add your toppings.
Toppings:
- Onions and Peppers: In a frying pan add 2 tablespoons of avocado oil. Add the onions, and peppers and sauté for about 5 minutes. Once the onions and peppers have softened, they are ready. Add the cumin and season with salt and pepper to taste. Spread evenly on the top of the meatza.
- Spread the salsa, hot sauce or picante sauce all over the meat crust.
- Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the sliced tomatoes, stir and spread evenly around the meatza.
- Sprinkle the cheese all evenly all over the pizza.
- Place back in the oven for 5 minutes. You can also place under the broiler for about 2 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with Cilantro and add a dollop of sour cream.
- If you're not concerned about carbs or Keto, sprinkle some lightly crushed tortilla chips on top of the meatza to give it a little more crunch.
- Enjoy! Let me know you made this.
